"Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people
have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."

In the fall of 2014, I completed a 400-hour internship at Chick-fil-A of Gadsden at 4th Street. As Restaurant Marketing Director, I partnered with my operator to plan and execute sales-building activities that would build relationships and increase customer count, check average, and outside sales. While employed at Chick-fil-A of Gadsden, I planned and executed the largest events this location has ever hosted, attracting about 1,000 guests, within a tight budget. This experience allowed me to identify my strengths and weaknesses in a real working environment so that I could learn from mistakes, improve my capabilities, and keep moving forward. Two of the most evident things I learned are the importance of organization and time management. As a full-time student working up to three jobs per semester and actively participating in student organizations, I am accustomed to balancing a heavy workload. However, managing time on a specific project while handling social media accounts and meeting the needs of customers really enhanced my perspective and taught me to focus on organizational objectives at every level of operations.

For two football seasons I was blessed with the opportunity to plan and execute private events held at the home of Auburn Athletics Director Jay Jacobs. During these high-class social evenings held in the Jacobs' home, I was responsible for everything from pre-planning and event set-up to supervising the event and clearing the premises afterwards. Through this experience I was able to meet people that I highly admire and converse with them as peers. I learned to adapt to new environments and react to last minute changes. This part-time opportunity was among my most enjoyable work due to the relationship I was able to build with the Jacobs family while assisting them in creating a memorable experience for their guests and enhancing the image of Auburn Athletics.

As an Executive Suite Ambassador (ESA), I worked with about seventy team members in providing excellent hospitality to suiteholders during home football games at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Being an ESA greatly developed my multitasking skills. I worked in the executive suites while volunteering for numerous extra events held by Auburn Athletics. Serving as the first President of ESA, I lead the efforts behind ESA becoming an official organization on Auburn University's campus. Becoming an official Auburn University organization gave us more publicity and opportunities to connect with students on campus. As an ambassador, I also had the opportunity to work with many different companies and organizations such as Event Operations Group (EOG), About Thyme Catering, Top Notch Cleaning, Sodexo, AV2U, Special Arrangements, Craftmasters, Check-It-Out Balloons, Jordan-Hare Stadium Ambassadors, and the Athletic Director's Club. This experience taught me the importance of communication, trust, patience, diligence, delegation, and teamwork. I enjoyed learning the fundamentals of suite operations as well as working with a large team.

At the start of the 2013 football season, I was proudly promoted to supervising the Beckwith Club in Jordan-Hare Stadium - a prestigious area that seats about 150 donors located on the 50-yard line. My ability to build personal and professional relationships with current donors enabled me to focus on providing guests with an enjoyable and relaxing game-day experience.

Tigers Unlimited is the official fundraising arm of Auburn Athletics. Serving as a student employee at Tigers Unlimited, I communicated daily with current and potential donors of Auburn Athletics via phone, e-mail, and face-to-face while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. I assisted with tasks around the office such as mail-outs, invitations, RSVPs, filling out and filing invoices, organizing the work area, and preparing nametags and thank you gifts for our events. This not only helped me improve my writing, communication, and organizational skills, but also opened my eyes to the large amount of work that goes into planning large events. I learned to stay motivated in order to meet tight deadlines, work alongside of team members, and satisfy current and prospective donors.
